Shamu or Bust!

Because of previous advertising agreements, I can’t write too much about my vacation on my other blog. I’d like to share the details though, so I’m writing about it here. The nice folks at Discovery Cove in Orlando are flying my family down to Florida, putting us up in a nice hotel, sending us to Discovery Cove to swim with the dolphins, letting us spend the day at Sea World, and basically giving us the royal treatment! I don’t think we could ever in a million years afford a vacation like this and the kids are all thrilled! Oh, who am I kidding? It’s not just the kids. We’re ALL so excited! I’ll take lots of pictures and update on this site when I can.

Off to finish packing now…

  • You will love it!!! My husband and I went to Discovery Cove two years ago and it was amazing…even though it was 40 degrees that day!!!

You guys will have a blast!!! There is alot to do.

  • WAAAAAY COOL! I’ve always wanted to swim with the dolphins. Have fun, kids! ;o)

  • Best wishes to you and your family on your vacation! I hope the ear infection and your lost voice don’t dampen the fun. Thanks for the kind comments on my blog too! It’s no where near as wonderful as yours.

  • Have a wonderful holiday! (Did they pick you at random or have you done something extra special (other than raising 6 kids and retaining your sanity) to be picked for this adventure?)

I’d love to swim with dolphins - how cool that you get to do it. :)

Have a blast! We went to SW in Sept and I so wanted to go to the Cove!

I hope you and DD feel better before you leave!

Oh and the weather forcast was exactly the same for the week I went and we only had one afternoon storm so don’t take it to seriously!

  • You guys will have so much fun. Earlier this month my hubby and I and the baby went over to SeaWorld and we had a blast! Don’t worry too much about the rain. During the rainy season in FL there is ALWAYS rain in the forecast. Usually it opens up and pours for a a short time and then, Voila!, it’s gone.

Oh, and don’t sit in the SOAK ZONE at SeaWorld unless you want to be SOAKED!! Even if the workers tell you you won’t. We learned that lesson the hard way!! :)

  • That is soooo cool! You will have an awesome time and memories your children will have for a lifetime. Have a wonderful time!!!

  • Have a WONDERFUL VACATION and remember it is better to swim with the dolphins then to swim with the fishes! :)

  • Have a blast, Dawn! My SIL and I are taking my niece to swim with the dolphins in Discovery Cove next October for her 16th birthday. Should cement her conviction to study marine biology in college.

Can’t wait to see the pictures when you get back! Cheers!

Dawn- your family will have a wonderful time. I am a Floridian and my family has always visited Sea World every 2 to 3 years. My husband and I went to Discovery Cove for my 30th birthday a few years ago it was GREAT! We took our little girl conceived right after dolphin trip, might be something in the water down there , so be careful ;-) to Sea World this past Spring, she is 3 and still talks about it, We all had a great time.My best tip is to enjoy it over a few days, don’t try to do it all in one day! can’t wait for your posts when you return.

Wow that sounds so wonderful. I have 7 year old boy/girl twins. I would love to be able to take them there some day. My daughter is so crazy for dolphins. She LOVES them.

    Have a great time. :O)

Dawn-you and the crew will really love DC, we took our 10 yr old twins for a once-in-a-lifetime trip last year and it was the best thing we’ve ever done. Take several of those disposable underwater cameras with you and let the kids loose with them-those are our best memories. Oh-and eat tons-it’s all included at DC! The service there is the best. Have a safe trip and I know we’ll all look forward to hearing about it when you get back!

  • ENJOY every moment! Looking forward to hearing about your trip when you return

Just thought I’d give a plug to the other greatest place on earth in Orlando…might be worth a visit and a shameless plug on your blog. It’s called “Give Kids the World” (they have a website with directions). It’s a place where kids with serious illness can go with organiztions like “Make-A-Wish” (that’s how we went) and they too give a royal treatment with FREE EVERYTHING. It is SOOOO worth a visit while you’re there and VERY close to Seaworld etc… Happy vacationing.

  • All I have to say is I am jealous! Orlando is one of my most favorite places to be. And swimming with Dolphins!!!! Can I go? You guys are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to see pictures.

  • That is so awesome! Good things come to great people. We went to Orlando this past Spring and had a great time. I can’t wait to go back!

  • Sounds like a fantastic vacation, how cool of them to do that for you! We loooove Sea World.
