Retro Funnies and Pretties at Ruby Jane
I’m (almost) 32 and haven’t pinpointed my style yet. I don’t even think I have a style unless you count cardboard box brown a style (a story for another day). But if I had to pin my style down to one, it would be eclectic, which, I know, is an oxymoron. Basically, when I see something I like, I like it. A little of this; a little of that.
Which is why I like Ruby Jane SO much. Barbara at Ruby Jane has pinpointed her style, and she’s built a whole store around what she likes: retro 50’s housewife. I know, it doesn’t really sound like a style, but when you browse through her store, you’ll notice how she puts all kinds of retro-styled products together. From fabrics to stationery to household decorations, Ruby Jane has lots of fun stuff to retro-fit your house and your life. All at the same time with a bit of funnies thrown in.
Barbara sent me a variety of retro-styled items from her store, and I have to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the things she sent! I may not know my style, but I know I love a good tote bag. The Shangri La Market Bag she sent is durable (just ask my 2-year-old), HUGE (my 2-year-old fits inside), unbelievably cute (see pic), and at a great price ($39.95).
She also sent me a simple embroidered baby bib made from the Baby Treasures Bib Kit. This is going to be a GREAT gift for my sister’s baby coming in October that’s simple, cute, and retro.
I literally cracked up when I saw the funniest thing Barbara sent: “Make Your Own Damn Dinner” note pad. It pretty much says it all. On each note pad page, funny quips like “she liked to stir things up” and “all I want is an umbrella in my drink” make for funny shopping lists or a note to the teacher. Priced from $4.95 each, you can NOT pass up the stationery category!
(Here’s where I don’t mention that the holiday shopping season is coming up - it’s only August, so be good for goodness sake.)
Giveaway
Speaking of Christmas, Barbara is offering an aDORable retro make-your-own Christmas ornament kit as a giveaway. These are the ones we had as kids - no plastic, handmade, and stuffed with love. Valued at $32, the kit has everything you need (ten fabric cutouts in ornament shapes, batting, embroidery floss, ribbon and embellishments) to sit with your kids for some quality crafting time. And if you’re like me, a kit with everything is necessary because we aren’t a crafty household.
Leave a comment here with your favorite item from Ruby Jane by Sunday, August 31, at 11:59pm EST. Comments left without the name of a product will be ineligible to win. One comment per person, per day - come back daily for your chance to win! The winner will be posted here on MamasLike, notified via email, and on Prizey.Fetch.
