Valentine’s Day Chocolate

Red ThreadDoesn’t that just sound like it goes together? Valentine’s Day & Chocolate. Isn’t that why Hallmark invented Valentine’s Day? So we can eat as much chocolate as we can fit into our bellies and not feel guilty? (Am I asking too many questions?)

The chocolates that are hand-made (yes, hand-made) at Red Thread Confections, need to be your guilt-free pleasure for V-Day. I cannot express to you how GOOOOD these chocolates are to eat/enjoy/inhale. As Backpack says, “Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum! Delicioso!” Eat Me

Dawn wrote her review a few weeks ago that included a free box of chocolates from Red Thread Confections. And because these chocolates are incredibly goood, they’re giving away ANOTHER medium variety box of hand-made chocolates! Since Dawn’s review, Red Thread has lowered their shipping costs. Now you have NO excuse for not buying your chocolates.

Leave a comment here telling us which chocolate you think would be your favorite, and we’ll pick a winner on Sunday, Feb 10.

Rock the Vote ~ Toddler-Style

Emily AllynIf you’re like me, when you have kids, you start paying more attention to the world around us and the impact we have on others. We all want the best for our little princes & princesses, angels & hellions. As you know, the election season is upon us (BTW - if you didn’t know, turn off Dora and turn on the news every other week or so), and we all have to pay attention to what the politicians are politicking. In the end, we must make a choice and stand by that choice as to whom we want leading our country.

Emily AllynEmily at Emily Allyn has made her choice - to make adorable clothes for kids (sorry - couldn’t help myself from the obvious pun) that show your allegiance to your choice in politics. Go ahead - use your kids to further your cause and fetch your shoes. Emily Allyn’s designs are printed on American Apparel t-shirts which are made of soft, quality fabric constructed right here in the USofA. Even if you don’t get your wee child a political party shirt, pick another design like “little monkey,” “peanut,” or “sweet pea” to support American-made products.

Right now, Emily Allyn is offering free shipping on all orders of $20 or more (no coupon code required). Want your own “little democrat” or “little republican” shirt for your little citizen? Leave a comment here with your favorite design (no need to affiliate yourself in the comment if you don’t wanna), and we’ll chose TWO winners to receive your choice of an Emily Allyn design! Giveaway ends on Feb 11.

Wonderfully Beautiful

Bow Holder I Wanted to Wonder is a site where you can find personalized, hand-painted products for your child and your home. From custom boutique clothing to hand-painted bow holders, you WILL find something for your kiddo.

I was lucky enough to have my two daughters featured on a one-of-a-kind, custom bow holder. I was able to customize their eye color, hair type, and the color scheme of the canvas. The INSTANT I showed my girls the canvas, they picked themselves out and fell in love with seeing their portraits on their wall.

Wall LetterSome of my other favorite things on the website are the painted wall letters that can be purchased individually to decorate your child’s bedroom or play room. The absolute CUTEST thing I found while shopping is the “Sisters” hand-painted wall art. I think this is a perfect Big Sister gift from the new baby. Every big sister loves a present from her new little baby sister!

Sister ArtHead on over to I Wanted to Wonder to see the other adorable custom artwork by Nancy. You can’t beat their FREE SHIPPING on EVERY order offer!

Just for Mamas Like readers, save 10% on your orders placed between Jan 31 and Feb 7 with coupon code MAMAS. Giveaways are awesome - just ask our past winners! Leave a comment letting Nancy at I Wanted to Wonder know what you think of the Custom 6×6 DOTTY hair bow holder, and we’ll choose the winner of the custom hair bow holder on Feb 7.

“I’m a Mama” Cards

Rockin Heart Mommy CardI must admit, I’ve never noticed a real use for having a Mommy card, but after receiving my incredible-looking cards, I want to hand them out to everyone! Us Mamas don’t get business cards when we enter the un-business world of stay-at-home motherhood.  Thankfully, Mod Baby Boutique offers cards for us Mamas in the un-business SAHM world. We want to win free coffee Starbucks, too, and now we can with our un-business cards!

For my Mommy cards, I was able to customize the saying on the card to reflect my, well, my quirkiness, and the fonts make my name look oh-so-chic. After I received my cute cards from Mod Baby Boutique, I thought of several uses for my new cards:

*Free drawing for coffee at Starbucks
*Meeting a new friend
*Announcing a new baby
*Change of phone number or email

Mod Baby Boutique has many different card designs to choose from including a cute (yes, cute) skull card, a sophisticated floral card, and lots of polka dots cards. Check out the website for other adorable kiddie and mama items like blankets, onesies, nursing covers, and nursery decor.

Because we love you, Mod Baby Boutique is giving away TWO free boxes of Mommy Cards to two of our readers! Leave a comment with ideas on how you would use your Mommy Cards, and you’ll be entered into the drawing on Wednesday, January 30th.

Life is Like a Box of Chocolates

I love chocolate. I mean, I really, really love chocolate. There’s not much that can stop me from eating chocolate. So, it’s a big deal when I say that I recently got a box of chocolate to review and it took me a few days before I could bring myself to try a piece. Why, you ask? Just look at them!

starrynight150.jpg

turtle150.jpg

Have you ever seen cooler looking chocolate? I mean, I’ve had “turtles” before, but they’ve never looked like TURTLES! At Red Thread Confections, chocolatier, Annika, makes these incredible confections by hand using only the finest organic ingredients.

My favorite one is the Mayan Fire. I love the cinnamon and touch of heat in this candy. Or maybe it’s the Orange Celebration. There’s no tastier combination than dark chocolate and orange with a touch of candied ginger. Unless it’s maybe the homemade vanillamayan-small.jpg marshmallow smothered in dark chocolate. Mmmmm. Ok, they’re all sinfully delicious!

hedgie-small.jpg

It’s a little sad to think of eating such awesome looking chocolates, but you’ll be glad you did when you savor Annika’s tasty combinations.

Leave a comment for a chance to win a medium assortment box of Red Thread Chocolates! We’ll choose a winner on Monday, the 28th! Don’t wait to buy your handmade chocolate to find out if you’re the winner. If you happen to win, and you’ve already made your purchase, you’ll get a refund or another box for free!

Lilly Pads

serengeti_thumb.jpgHave you ever had a toddler have a potty accident in their car seat? Have you ever had a child throw up in, spill juice on, or otherwise trash their car seat? Of course you have. And you know what a huge pain in the butt it is to unlatch and remove the car seat, unthread the belts, and take the cover off to wash it. Not to mention reassembling and repositioning the seat when you’re finished! There has to be a good solution, right? Well, there is! The Lilly Pad is a washable, waterproof car seat cover that is easily removable. How cool is that?

Now I have to admit that I, rocket scientist that I am, could not figure out how to put this cover on at first. I tried and tried and but it just didn’t make sense to me. My husband tried and couldn’t figure it out either. Then I watched the installation video on their website and voila, just like that, it clicked. It’s easy as pie if you have a clue what you’re doing. You don’t need to remove the seat from your car. You don’t have to remove the car seat cover or seat belts in order to use this. This waterproof, washable cover easily Velcros on right over the manufacturer’s cover. When your little one spills or otherwise messes up the car seat, just peel the Lilly Pad cover right off and toss it in the washer AND dryer!

Not only is this cover functional and easy to use, but it’s stylish as well. The Lilly Pad comes in a variety of chic and sassy, thick, soft fabrics with coordinating piping.

The Lilly Pad fits many 5 point harness car seats. Check here to see a complete list of car seats that the Lilly Pad cover fits. I really like this cover, however it doesn’t fit car seats with arm rests and my car seats all have arm rests, so…. I’m giving away the sample that Heidi, president of Lilly Pad, sent me to review. It’s “chocolate mint” color. To enter the drawing, leave a comment and check back on the 25th to see who the lucky winner is!

**Note: Please check the safety and warranty information regarding your car seat before installing car seat covers or any other car seat accessory.**
