Life is Like a Box of Chocolates

I love chocolate. I mean, I really, really love chocolate. There’s not much that can stop me from eating chocolate. So, it’s a big deal when I say that I recently got a box of chocolate to review and it took me a few days before I could bring myself to try a piece. Why, you ask? Just look at them!

Have you ever seen cooler looking chocolate? I mean, I’ve had “turtles” before, but they’ve never looked like TURTLES! At Red Thread Confections, chocolatier, Annika, makes these incredible confections by hand using only the finest organic ingredients.

My favorite one is the Mayan Fire. I love the cinnamon and touch of heat in this candy. Or maybe it’s the Orange Celebration. There’s no tastier combination than dark chocolate and orange with a touch of candied ginger. Unless it’s maybe the homemade vanillamayan-small.jpg marshmallow smothered in dark chocolate. Mmmmm. Ok, they’re all sinfully delicious!

It’s a little sad to think of eating such awesome looking chocolates, but you’ll be glad you did when you savor Annika’s tasty combinations.

Leave a comment for a chance to win a medium assortment box of Red Thread Chocolates! We’ll choose a winner on Monday, the 28th! Don’t wait to buy your handmade chocolate to find out if you’re the winner. If you happen to win, and you’ve already made your purchase, you’ll get a refund or another box for free!

Lilly Pads

serengeti_thumb.jpgHave you ever had a toddler have a potty accident in their car seat? Have you ever had a child throw up in, spill juice on, or otherwise trash their car seat? Of course you have. And you know what a huge pain in the butt it is to unlatch and remove the car seat, unthread the belts, and take the cover off to wash it. Not to mention reassembling and repositioning the seat when you’re finished! There has to be a good solution, right? Well, there is! The Lilly Pad is a washable, waterproof car seat cover that is easily removable. How cool is that?

Now I have to admit that I, rocket scientist that I am, could not figure out how to put this cover on at first. I tried and tried and but it just didn’t make sense to me. My husband tried and couldn’t figure it out either. Then I watched the installation video on their website and voila, just like that, it clicked. It’s easy as pie if you have a clue what you’re doing. You don’t need to remove the seat from your car. You don’t have to remove the car seat cover or seat belts in order to use this. This waterproof, washable cover easily Velcros on right over the manufacturer’s cover. When your little one spills or otherwise messes up the car seat, just peel the Lilly Pad cover right off and toss it in the washer AND dryer!

Not only is this cover functional and easy to use, but it’s stylish as well. The Lilly Pad comes in a variety of chic and sassy, thick, soft fabrics with coordinating piping.

The Lilly Pad fits many 5 point harness car seats. Check here to see a complete list of car seats that the Lilly Pad cover fits. I really like this cover, however it doesn’t fit car seats with arm rests and my car seats all have arm rests, so…. I’m giving away the sample that Heidi, president of Lilly Pad, sent me to review. It’s “chocolate mint” color. To enter the drawing, leave a comment and check back on the 25th to see who the lucky winner is!

**Note: Please check the safety and warranty information regarding your car seat before installing car seat covers or any other car seat accessory.**

Welcome Melissa!

Because Mamaslike gets so many requests for product reviews and Angie and Dawn can only do so many a week, we’ve roped another mom into writing reviews asked another mom to write reviews with us.   This way we’ll be able to bring attention to more products each week.

I want to introduce Mamaslike’s newest mama, Melissa!  Melissa lives in Connecticut with her husband and two girls, Emily (10) and Charlotte (4).  She comes to us with tons of experience as she’s a professional writer for Business New Haven, New Haven magazine, The New Haven Register, and the Loudoun Easterner in Virginia.  Melissa throws an awesome party, is addicted to kitchen gadgets and, much like me, doesn’t have much to say before her first cup of coffee.  Hmmm, this is starting to sound like an intro for The Dating Game!  - She likes long walks along the beach, kittens, and snuggling in front a cozy fire.  LOL! Sorry Melissa!

Melissa is perfect for this job because, not only is she an accomplished writer, but she also likes “stuff” and is looking forward to discovering and reviewing new products.  Welcome aboard, Melissa!!!
