Sugar Britches Diapers

Those of you who know me, know that I’ve never used cloth diapers.  I’m all for recycling and I think that we should all do what we can to preserve our resources and protect our planet and its inhabitants, however, washing poop out of cloth diapers was just not a step I was willing to take.

Then I got a request for a review from Debby at SugarBritchesDiapers.  I figured there are several readers who do indeed use cloth diapers, so I wanted to review her website.  The problem was - in order for me to accurately review her diapers, I had to actually use them!  Debby sent me this adorable monkey print diaper to try.  I thought disposables were pretty soft, but in comparison to this soft, cotton flannel diaper, disposables feel like sand paper.

The diaper is gathered at the top in back and has several plastic snaps across the front so it’s highly adjustable for a custom fit.  I honestly thought that a cloth diaper would be soaking wet and leak all over the place the first time my daughter urinated in it.  I was really surprised when that didn’t happen.  It wasn’t wet to the touch at all!  I can’t believe how absorbant it is!  This diaper has ten layers of soft, but highly absorbant fabric.

Now I admit, I only put this cloth diaper on my baby after she’d had her “morning poop”, so I only experienced wet diapers.  After she wet the diaper, I just tossed it in the wash and it came out fresh and clean, in beautiful shape, with no shrinkage or anything.  I’m sorry, but I’m just not brave enough to wash out a poopy diaper, even though I’m sure it’s no big deal.

Not only does Debby, mother to nine children, make these super soft diapers that are good for baby’s sensitive skin and good for the earth, but she also makes breast pads for nursing moms, doll diapers, bibs, rompers, cloth wipes, and “Little Sniffles” (cloth circles packaged in a cute holder that are great for teaching little ones how to blow their noses.)

If you already use cloth diapers, I’m sure you’ll love SugarBritches well-made diapers.  If you’ve never tried a cloth diaper, give it a shot.  Maybe you’ll find that cloth is the way to go for you.  The hardest thing about ordering from SugarBritchesDiapers is choosing a fabric from the many cute patterns available!

Yeah! Thanks for reviewing a cloth diaper and being willing to try it! :-) You may get all kinds of request for cloth diaper reviews now though as those of us that love cloth diapers are pretty fanatic out them. :-) I simply couldn’t go back to paper/plastic diapers after getting addicted to the softness of cloth (and I’ve never toilet dunked a diaper — NEVER w/ two kids (youngest now potty training)– plenty of ways around that — especially if you have a predictable pooper — I’m jealous on that one). It looks like this mom has some other great poducts too and I hadn’t ever been to her site before. :-) Thank you.

I used ONLY cloth diapers for my two boys. My husband (ex now) thought I was insane. And get this, I did it the old fashioned way, diaper flannel and had to fold each diaper, no preformed diapers for me! Which is good, because you fold the same diaper to their growth stage, no having to buy a bigger size. The poop thing is no big deal, dunk it in the toilet to bring off the poop, or with my youngest, found these great “diaper liners” - think mentrual pads that draw the moisture away. Not only did it cut down on diaper rash, you could easily pick up the four corners of the liner with the poop in it, and they were flushable!!! No more dunking diapers. My kids (now 13 and 19) wouldn’t wear a disposable diaper, they wanted that soft flannel next to their butt. And yes, I cried washing the last load of diapers … knowing it was the last. Ahhhh good memories

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I’ve worked hard at making my home business work for me. I’ve juggled my home schedule in such a way where it all fits together quite nicely. Not to mention that I’ve hired my husband (yes, he has his own sewing machine!!) from time to time during the really busy times. My family has been very supportive throughout this venture. My customers are very important to me and I treat each and every order with personal attention. It tickles me to no end that I’m helping Mother Earth keep her blue and green shades that she deserves!! Thank you again.

I have been using cloth diapers since my first was born, 5 years ago. I have used Debbie’s diapers, and I can tell you not only are her products wonderful, but so is her customer service. We often use cloth wipes for washable napkins, too!

I’ve not had the chance to try sugar britches but we’re a cloth loving family. LOVE LOVE LOVE cloth. We have 5 kids 1 in diapers and I couldn’t see throwing money away with poop wrapped up in it. I will definatly keep Sugar Britches in mind when I do our yearly splurge with taxes!
